Photo by Ph Marco Longari Visions from Europe promotes an original and contemporary vision of Matera and of Basilicata through the eye of 56 European photographers. A teacher and a student for each of the 28 schools of photography of the 28 European countries invited were hosted in Basilicata for an artistic residency between April and July 2019, in order to realize an individual production of photographic images, enlarging the iconographical research that aims to celebrate Matera, Capital of Culture 2019. Avantech Ltd and MCAST are pleased to announce that Marika Buhagiar, a 2nd year photography student at MCAST together with photography lecturer Therese Debono, will be attending a fully sponsored 8-day residency project in Matera this Summer. With Matera being the European Capital of Culture for 2019, Canon Europe have this year launched a Matera Residency Project open to students in the 28 ECOC participating countries. Yesterday the weather was on our side and, after the failed attempt of the 14th October, we made it to the Ta’ Qali National Park where we very happily planted 50 trees. This event, organised by Avantech and Canon, was part of a campaign to raise environment awareness and to celebrate World Photo Day with a difference.
