Renowned Lens Technology

Thanks to Canon’s optical technology, our network cameras benefit from fast, bright lenses and deliver clean sharp images with minimal distortion.

High UD (Ultra Low-Dispersion) glass elements of high refractive index suppress the incidence of chromatic aberration prevalent in high-magnification lens units, minimising both barrel and pincushion distortion and providing natural-looking images with high edge-to-edge resolution across the zoom range.

Should you need to supplement conditions with the use of infrared lighting, an IR correcting lens coating improves sensitivity, controls ghosting and flare and enhances the cameras’ low-light performance.

Sensor Technology

CMOS sensors are a key component employed in any network camera. Using proprietary technologies, Canon sensors are designed to combine high sensitivity and high image quality with low noise.

Through the pursuit of ultra-high-sensitivity, ultra-high-resolution performance, these sensors are being used in various fields, such as medical research, and surveillance and in our network cameras.

Image Analysis

In-camera Intelligent video content analytics allow for realtime analysis of potential security breaches. Up to 15 areas in a scene can be designated for detection using 8 different algorithms, which include Intruder and Scream detection.

This redefines traditional alarm detection methods by helping to reduce false alarms, increase efficiency, and reduce the storage needed, by only triggering the recording of genuine threats.

The Linked Events function enables alarms to be logically combined to provide conditional alarm triggers.


Miniaturised Mechatronics

Miniaturised Mechatronics
Our strength in miniaturised mechatronics (computer controlled electro-mechanical sub-systems), allows us to develop products with strong benefits for our customers.

One such system is the unique remote configuration capability for our network cameras – PTRZ.

Once installed and connected to a network, the camera’s position and angle of view can be electronically adjusted with the Camera Angle Setting Tool. The camera’s direction can be changed intuitively by pressing the pan/tilt buttons, rotation sliders and the zoom slider that appear on the adjustment window. This enables just one person to complete the configuration, saving both time and money.

Imaging Across All Lighting Conditions

Class-leading Low-light Performance

Our network cameras low-light performance and colour reproduction have been particularly enhanced to faithfully capture the scene night and day. As a result – whilst striking a balance across noise, resolution and colour balance – our cameras can deliver a faithful colour image even in low-light situations.

Imaging In Difficult Lighting Conditions

The adverse effects of strong back light, mist or haze can be devastating without effective management or compensation. Canon’s proprietary image processing algorithms provide the very best image quality no matter what the light lighting conditions.

Auto Smart Shade Control (Auto-SSC)

Where competitor cameras take a sequence of images at different shutter speeds and combine them into one to resolve scenes containing brightly lit backgrounds, Canon’s Auto Smart Shade Control (Auto SSC) makes instant real-time adjustments for improving the visibility of foreground. The net effect is that bright areas stay bright and only the darker areas are lightened, so hard-to-see silhouettes are instantly converted into clearly identifiable objects.

Imaging In Colour

The DIGIC DVIII imaging processing engine – also used in Canon’s Cinema EOS professional cameras provides exceptional video quality, low noise, smooth gradation plus vivid and accurate colour – regardless of the light source.

Imaging With IR Illumination

In situations with little or no ambient light, the use of invisible infrared lighting is traditionally used to illuminate the scene and allow cameras to capture images in black and white.Canon’s Super UD (Ultra Low-dispersion) lens technology and infrared anti-reflective coatings improves sensitivity, controls ghosting and flare to minimise the loss in focus normally associated with using IR. Clean sharp images naturally captured, require less processing, saving bandwidth and storage costs.

Cameras with in-built IR LEDs, use a dual LED array to illuminate the scene evenly. No matter how near or far the subject may be or how close they are to the periphery, images are correctly exposed and contain the high level of details that translate in to powerful evidence.

Imaging At A DIstance

Adopting High UD (Ultra Low-Dispersion) glass elements of high refractive index, suppress the incidence of chromatic aberration prevalent in high-magnification lens units, minimizes both barrel and pincushion distortion and provides natural-looking images with high edge-to-edge resolution across the zoom range.

The 30x Zoom VB-R Series PTZ cameras enable operators to monitor and record subjects at any distance within the zoom range from infinity to the minimum object distance of 2m (6,6ft).

Minimising Project Costs

Wide Angle of View – Wide viewing angles makes the surveillance of large areas possible with fewer cameras. By optimally arranging high quality aspherical lens elements not only delivers more light to the cameras’ sensor to achieve brighter, well-defined images but also reduces the traditional fish-eye effect.

Remote PTRZ Set-up in Canon Fixed Dome Cameras – Once installed and connected to a network, the camera’s position and angle of view can be electronically adjusted with the Camera Angle Setting Tool. Where intuitive Pan Tilt, Rotation, Zoom and focus controls enable a single person to complete the camera’s configuration remotely saving both time and money.

In-built Analytics – Intelligent analyse of the scene can help operators identify alarming situations. Up 15 areas can be selected to analysed using Moving, Abandoned, Removed object detection, Camera Tampering, Passing Line and Intrusion Detection. Linked Events enables video activated alarms to be logically combined to provide conditional alarm triggers. The addition of Volume and Scream detection adds greater flexibility and once an alarm is activated cameras instigate recording, upload images to a remotely located server or even send an email notification.

Enhanced Security – Securing the integrity of video data across the network is vitally important in high security applications. Advance IEEE 802.1X and IPSec security protocols offer the ability to encrypt transmissions and protect individual packets to maintain the confidentiality of captured video footage.

 

Additional Features

Auto Tracking – Unlike conventional solutions Canon’s auto-tracking effectively combines the cameras intelligent Moving Object detection with the camera’s PTZ control to keep a tracked objects at the centre of the screen. Auto-zoom also keeps the object the same size regardless of where ever they roam. Setting a time limit and a return to detection positions allows the camera to attain and track their target virtually hands free.

High Speed, Precision with Control – Canon’s high end PTZ mechanisms feature our latest innovations in motor design to provide our most responsive and accurate PTZ camera to date. Fine stepping motors, 360⁰ continuous rotation at 450⁰/sec with auto-flip capabilities, enable operators to easily track their subjects and monitor situations as they unfold.

Bandwidth Management (ADSR) – Canon’s Area-specific Data Size Reduction technology is an effective tools in bandwidth management. Operators are free define up to eight discrete areas where ultimately the best quality is and ADSR applies a higher level of compression to the remaining less important surrounding area. This flexible approach helps mange your bandwidth usage whilst still capturing areas of detail where it is needed most.

SD Card Recording (Onvif Profile G) – Having the ability to search and retrieve recorded footage from the cameras’ inserted storage media adds greater flexibility any surveillance solution. Compliance with ONVIF Profile G standardises communications allows our compatible VMS solutions access and control this function to greater effect.

Environmental Protection (NEMA250 Type 4X)  Outdoor ready cameras with added NEMA 4X compliance provide a superior level of environmental protection in coastal and corrosive chemical environments. These robust and durable cameras also benefit from an extended operating temperature range (-50⁰C – +55⁰C) making and offer reliable start-up at temperatures as low as -30⁰C.

Outdoor Weatherproofing (IP66) – Where you need protection from the elements certified IP66 outdoor ready cameras offer a high degree protection from dust and water. Be it a sudden downpour of rain or powered jet of water washing down the area, the camera is suitably protected.

Vandal Proof Protection (IK10) – Compliance to European standard EN 62262, certified IK10 rated cameras offer a high degree of protection against external impact. Polycarbonate dome covers, retracting lens mechanisms and tough outer casings, mean that these cameras are designed to withstand attack.
