Description
As a flexible video-first full-frame EOS R System camera optimised for handheld shooting, the Canon EOS R6 V occupies a new position for Canon. It sits at the top of the EOS / PowerShot V Series of cameras for content creators and offers uncompromising full-frame quality in a compact package. Strengthening Canon’s hybrid lineup for the converging video and stills market, the camera’s versatile, user-friendly design reflects its focus on content creation as opposed to professional video production. It is an ideal solution for solo shooters who don’t require the sophisticated setup or professional functionality of a Cinema EOS camera, but who are looking for more hands-on video control than is available in a stills-first mirrorless camera.
Smooth and steady handheld shooting
Canon’s smallest full-frame camera with IBIS is supremely comfortable to use, with an ergonomic grip, 12 custom buttons and a Vari-angle screen for shooting from creative angles.
Never miss a moment
Stay in focus with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II and intelligent subject detection, while the zoom lever delivers smooth, precise control with compatible zoom lenses, like the Canon RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ.
A cinematic look that sets your content apart
Enjoy superb image quality thanks to a full-frame sensor that delivers 7K 60p RAW, oversampled 4K 60p for extra detail, and fast frame rates up to 120p in 4K and 180p in 2K/Full HD.
Faster, smarter workflows
Streamline your shoots with Open Gate recording for output to multiple platforms, custom picture profiles, 4-channel audio and flexible recording to dual card slots.
More ways to create
Expand your output with a camera that can do more than you imagine. Use it for UVC streaming up to 4K 60p, creating VR content, add audio accessories via the Multi-function shoe and much more.
Shoot stunning stills
Make the most of high-powered hybrid features such as 32.5MP resolution, 40fps bursts and pre-continuous shooting that starts recording before you press the shutter button.
Open Gate recording
Open Gate is a method that captures video using the entire area of a camera’s image sensor, rather than cropping full frame lenses to standard aspect ratios like 16:9 or 17:9. By utilising the full sensor height and width – often in formats like 3:2 or 4:3 – Open Gate maximises resolution and image data. For example, a full-frame sensor might deliver a full 7K image at 6960×4640 using Open Gate, whereas A traditional 17:9 DCI aspect ratio would reduce the height of the image to 6960×3672.
The key advantage of Open Gate is flexibility. It provides more room in post-production for reframing, stabilisation, and high-resolution delivery across multiple formats. This is especially valuable for creators delivering to both cinematic and social platforms, allowing for simultaneous 16:9, 9:16, or even square aspect ratios from a single source.
